    An Absol was a Pokemon Brendan was not familiar with. In fact, he wasn't familiar with a lot of Pokemon in this area. He wondered if he could meet any without getting hurt, but that could be an impossibility with some of the territorial types out there.

    He sat down, resting from a long walk out here, and sighed. "Sure gets lonely around here..."

    "!" The boy flinched at whoever nudged him and turned to meet the stranger: an Absol. Wow... what red eyes, he thought. Brendan stared back at the Pokemon, wondering how it managed to get behind him so deftly silent. But a new fear began to dawn on him. What if the Absol wanted to attack him?

    Now that the Absol tilted her head, so did Brendan. It seemed that the Pokemon posed no threat to him, and he relaxed a bit, breathing at a more regular pace rather than holding his breathe. He still had no clue what kind of Pokemon it was, but pulling out the PokeDex seemed like a bad idea.

    "Wh... what's your name?" Brendan asked.
